Merry Wintermas!

Political correctness gone mad - several councils and other stupid people saying they can't use the phrase 'Christmas' because it might cause offence to people of other faiths. Well I'm sorry, it's Christmas, the whole reason there is something happening on 25 December is because of Jesus CHRIST, hence CHRISTmas. It is not Wintermas, or Winter Festival or whatever - you can't deny the 'involvement' of Christianity!

Why should the term 'Christmas' cause offence? It's just ridiculous. People have to understand and tolerate other people's beliefs, faiths, opinions all the time. It's part of living in a diverse, free-speaking society. It just really, really, really winds me up such stupidness and narrow-mindedness.

I completley agree with you. I read an article about this the other day and was horrified at the very thought. It is hypocrytical to say "Christmas" is racist when it would be racist toward Christians to change our festivals name. We don't say that "Diwali" is racist, so why is Christmas. Why must Christians always get pushed to the bottom of the pile. Just because we hold a well-known religion, it dosen't mean we should not be treated with respect.

Diwali is absolutely racist. It's all about Hindu anti-Dravidian racism.

Shame that the Yeshua ben Joseph that we often call 'Jesus of Nazareth' was actually very unlikely to have been born on the 25th of December. And that 'Christmas' as we know it was a catholic invention to muscle in on pagan festivals in the winter...

Let's not get tied up in this divide us thus nonsense - it's Wintermas afterall. :)
